The CKC discusses issues affecting the sustainable future of the Kennet and its valley. This includes:
- water pollution
- over abstraction
- over development
- conservation and enhancement of biological diversity and the
- maintenance and improvement of amenity value and accessibility.
Membership of the forum is open to anyone wanting to further its aims. West Berkshire and Reading councils provide the venue and a chair for this forum. Other authorities are the Environment Agency and Thames Water. Canal and river users are also present including the Reading & District Anglers Association, Kennet & Avon Canal Trust, Civil Society Angling Society and the Greater Reading Liberal Democrats.
The minutes of the last meeting are available here and the next meeting in Reading was due to take place on the 4th of June 2014, however it is postponed due to our chair, Councillor Ruhemann being unwell at the moment.
